This year, for the first time ever, UNCG's College Republicans will be joining forces with organizations from 20 state campuses to celebrate Morals Week.

In the past, the College Republicans have raised eyebrows by hosting events such as "No Hump Day" and an affirmative-action bake sale in 2004, and by displaying a Ten Commandments monument in the Elliot University Center's foyer in 2005.

It seems the events have served their purpose and captured attention statewide.

According to a Jan. 26 press release, 20 other campuses in North Carolina plan on following in UNCG's footsteps.

"The participating schools include both state and private institutions," says Ryan Radford, vice president of UNCG's College Republicans.

According to Radford, other schools are eager to join in Morals Week because of how successful UNCG's events have been.

The exact events being held by the other universities are not yet known.

"For the most part, the other campuses will follow along the same lines as UNCG with a day or two that's different," says Daryn Iwicki, President of the College Republicans.

At UNCG, the traditional "Pro-Life Day" and "Support Our Troops Day" are scheduled for March 26 through 31.

Additionally, explained Iwicki, they plan to host Bay Buchanan, the youngest United States treasurer who served under the Reagan administration, and Scott Rutter, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel to speak for "Support Our Troops Day" about what we can do to help the troops in Iraq.
