2005 marked an important year for fans of industrial metal giants Korn. It was either a major disappointment for die-hard fans or a feeling of pride for others more open-minded. More importantly, it was a year of great change and imperative re-evaluation of life for lead guitarist Brian "Head" Welch. 2005 indicated Welch's discovery of Jesus Christ and disbanding from Korn, as chronicled in his premiere autobiography, Save Me from Myself.

Within the book, the reader is taken on a rollercoaster of Welch's overly materialistic lifestyle of partying. Beginning with Welch's home life as a child all the way up to the remnants of his former life and aftermath, Welch's words portray this main point: although he gained everything in the world, he lost his soul and was ultimately unhappy.

Welch begins his story discussing his life at home, love for music, and acquiring his first guitar. Shortly after, the reader acquaints himself with future members of Korn. Once Korn is up and running. Welch unleashes a fury of subject matter in which he is ashamed of having ever been involved in, including drug abuse and binge drinking.

The assault never ceases as Welch becomes more and more detailed in every aspect of his life on the road with Korn. With the addition of a wife as well as a daughter, Welch only falls deeper into his world of sin.

Everything remains the same until his relationship with his family begins to fall apart. During this time Welch overhears his daughter repeating offensive lyrics from a Korn single. According to Welch's account, it was at this moment when reached the lowest point in his life; one which he is dependent on his daily dosages of crystal methamphetamine. Realizing that he is not happy with the direction his life is headed, he begins to fight back and attempt a change.

Welch attempts to repair an ever-failing relationship with his now former life while, at the same time, figuring out a way to break his news of his leave of Korn. Welch goes on to mention his involvement with friends within the religious community and how they helped pull him out of his despair.

Further described is Welch's sobriety and separation from crystal meth, including the reestablishment of his life and relationship with his daughter.

Welch attributes these drastic and positive changes to his newfound savior, Jesus Christ.

Present day, Welch continues to make music with the substantial difference being his motivational drive - his daughter and the Lord. Welch regularly attends church and continues to write about his past experiences, with an autobiographical movie in the works.

If not for a few close friends who would never give up on him, Welch would still be headed down a path with no pleasing outcome, and may have never found happiness.
