The list of nominees for the 37th Annual American Music Awards were announced with artists such as Taylor Swift, Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga and the late Michael Jackson getting multiple nominations last Tuesday morning.
Asked to deliver the big news was former American Idol judge Paula Abdul, the latest star from the series, Adam Lambert, and famous rap artist Snoop Dog. They met for a press conference in Beverly Hills to break the news.Leading the nominations chart with six in total is Taylor Swift, scoring big categories such as Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Album in both the Pop/Rock and Country categories. She is also up for Artist of the Year along with Kings of Leon, Lady Gaga, Eminem and Michael Jackson.
Jackson, four months after his death, picked up five nominations, Eminem taking four, and Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Kings of Leon and T.I. all having three nominations.
Notable categories to mention are Favorite Male Artist with Eminem, Michael Jackson and T.I. up for the award. For Country, Favorite Album the nominees are Rascal Flatts' Unstoppable, Taylor Swift's Fearless and Zac Brown Band's Foundation.
In the Soul/R&B - Favorite Album category, Beyonce I Am… Sasha Feirce, The Black Eyed Peas The E.N.D. and Michael Jackson's Number Ones were nominated. And in the Adult Contemporary category, Daughtry, Jason Mraz and Taylor Swift were each nominated.
